Four industrial domains are shaping after nearly ten years’
development and construction in Daxie:
Port transshipment and storage industry focusing on the transshipment
and warehousing of crude oil, petrochemicals, and containers
transshipment;
Petro-chemical, iron and steel, and other port-related industries;
High-technology industry represented by new materials, biotechnology,
medicine, electronic information industry;
The traditional industry with textile, clothing, household
appliances, molding, machinery manufacturing as emphasis.
Port transshipment and storage industry are mainly located
in the north east and north west part of the island, utilizing
the deepwater coastline to construct crude oil transshipment
base, containers terminals and multi-purpose terminals. The
projects in operation include the crude oil transshipment
base invested by Ningbo Port Authority and Sinopec, the 20,000
tonnnage general purpose terminal, etc,, and there are two
20,000-tonnnage terminals, one 5,000 terminal and four fifth-sixth
containers terminal under construction. It is estimated that
the handling capacity of Daxie ports will reach 20 million
tons.
Port-related industrial projects are mainly located in the
north and north-east of the island, making advantage of the
deep water coastline and the spacious hinterland to construct
large scale petrochemical and steel industrial base. Projects
that have put into operation include LPG terminal invested
by bp and its Chinese partner, Liwan petrochemical project
with the annual production capacity of 500,000 tons high-grade
asphalt. Daxie Wanhua industrial park with a total investment
of RMB yuan 5 billion is under construction, PTA base project
with annual production capacity of 600,000 tons has been approved
by the SDRC, one steel plant with annual production capacity
of 6 millions is preparing to start construction.
The high-tech industry and traditional industrial projects
are mainly located in the west and south of the island, including
new materials, biotechnology, medicine, electronic information
and textile, clothing, household appliances, molding, machinery
manufacturing etc. More than 100 enterprises from Taiwan ,
Japan, Itay, Hong Kong are developing together with domestic
listed companies in the west and south industrial park of
the island.
